Alison Butler is a master's student on the Organic Agriculture and Food Systems programme. She is excited to be writing her MSc thesis, 'Exploring alternatives for the UK agri-food system: a critical analysis of competing visions for the future' at the Department of Sustainable Use of Natural Resources at Hohenheim.

In her last research project, she used mixed methods including face-to-face interviews and an online survey to look at inclusion and access to Alternative Food Networks in the Stuttgart region, with a dual focus on the experience of citizens with a migration background and those on lower incomes.

Alison is currently based in the UK, where she has previously worked on school food growing initiatives with children and parents from communities experiencing multiple social and economic inequalities in East London. She has also worked on an organic vegetable farm running a local 'veg box' delivery scheme.

She is particularly interested in the necessary conditions for synergistic social, economic and environmental transformation.
