Hiba Mastas is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Bioeconomy, with an academic background in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology. She is also completing an exchange year at the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China, where she is taking on business and finance courses related to China's economic development. Her interdisciplinary training combines scientific research with data analysis, and sustainability.
For her Master’s thesis, Hiba is contributing to the Bright Spots of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems project. Her research explores the transformative potential of shared values within food systems by analyzing survey data from organizations in India and Mexico. Using archetype analysis, she aims to identify the common values embedded in different organizational visions for food system transformation, and to assess how these shared values can serve as leverage points for driving sustainable change.
