Changemaker night   [15.11.25]

Reflect for a more just Hohenheim

Around the world, we are currently witnessing various forms of social crisis and a resurgence of right-wing movements. What role do universities play in these developments? What threats does the academic system face, and where does it contribute to the upholding of power structures? And how can we, as scholars and students, work towards more social justice within and beyond the university?

Recognizing that universities are social and political spaces shaped by the world around us, we invite you to an open workshop to reflect on what it means to create a more just Hohenheim. Power structures are not always visible to everyone - we may share the same campus but experience it differently. Learning from critical perspectives on justice and universities, we will discuss what is needed to make Hohenheim more inclusive, share what already works, and imagine what kinds of spaces, practices, and relationships could further strengthen connection and belonging.

  • Join us November 18th, 6pm at HS 6.
  • Food is included in the event.

The Changemaker Night will be hosted by Jasmin Goldhausen and Kelzy Jepsen. Jasmin is a PhD candidate at the Doctoral College for Intersectionality Studies at the University of Bayreuth. In her doctoral project, she is investigating structural power asymmetries in the academic field from a decolonial and intersectional perspective. Through her work, she advocates for better working conditions at universities and aims to create spaces where people can come together, care for each other and organize themselves to fight for intersectional justice. Kelzy is a PhD candidate at the Department of Sustainable Use of Natural Resources at the University of Hohenheim. Drawing from a feminist political ecology perspective, she focuses on food system transformation that promotes gender equity. Outside of her doctoral work, she is interested in transformation processes informed by an ethics of care. Together, Jasmin and Kelzy are committed to building more just and caring spaces, both within and beyond the university.

The event is organised by the project TREE which is funded bei Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschulehre and supported by AKN (working group sustainability).
