New interactive maps highlight Bright Spots of sustainable food systems in India [14.09.26]
A new interactive platform developed by the Bright Spots research project enables users to explore patterns of food-system sustainability across India, with dedicated maps for Kerala and Punjab.
“Bright Spots” are regions that perform better than average on selected sustainability indicators. Identifying these locations can help researchers and practitioners understand where promising outcomes are emerging, investigate the factors behind them and consider what other regions might learn from their experiences.
The indicators presented in the platform were selected by organizations that participated in Bright Spots visioning workshops. They cover environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainable food systems and reflect the priorities identified by food-system actors in each location.
Users can move between national, Kerala and Punjab maps, explore different indicators and examine the geographical distribution of Bright Spots through an accessible interactive interface.
The platform was created by Julie Fortin and the Bright Spots team at the University of Hohenheim. The Bright Spots project is funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation.
